Looking good Mr Cake. You look to be wearing it well!
About the only mistakes I can see are minor webbing ones that loads of people make. The 1st one nearly everybody does when they start, the 2nd one is a stupidly minor thing!
1) The cross straps shouldn't go through the top loop of the buckle on the utility pouches. They go through the 2nd and 3rd loops. The top loop is for hooking the L-straps of the haversack or large pack into. Have a look at a few pics and you'll see what I mean.
2) On the other end of the cross straps the water bottle and entrenching tool are on correctly, but the water bottle should sit under the entrenching tool, not over it. To fix this the water bottle carrier should attach to the cross strap first then the entrenching tool on second. You'll only have to change this for one of the cross straps, don't actually move the water bottle carrier anywhere!
(Oh and I've never seen anyone hang a mug from the entrenching tool cover before, the iconic thing to do is to hang it from the small pack.)
Anyway, good start! Are planning on getting a brit weapon?
cheers yith its little touches like the ones u mentioned that make it look miles better! yeh i am getting a brit gun....currently making a no4 and poor old warren has been given the hard task of trying to semi a sten! ![]()
and i no that usually one puts the cup on the small pack and that will be done as soon as i get one! (helmet and boots are taking priority over small pack) plus therz sumthing satisfying not only wen u kill someone with a springer but also wen they hear u a mile off with the cup hitting the etool

Heh, yeah. I got a few kills with my SMLE at the weekend. It's rather satisfying... especially when it's running at 350fps. ![]()
Yeah, looking really good there!
Only points I can see are just a Yith said ^above^.

Yeah, but everyone did their own thing (I've seen a period picture of a mug hanging from the bottom of a front brace strap, between the universal pouch and the waterbottle before), and it does look a pretty good place to keep a mug when not wearing a small pack.

A specific time period / Division you are portraying?
In the group picture, what is the guy on the left side wearing?
Loadout is based loosly round the 2nd mountian division, its functional and works well in the field, image by Keith & Stu at POW.

Not a bad impresion, the only thing that lets it down massivley is the shooting pose.
Looks loads more authentic if you shoulder a rifle as if it were a real one and not a toy.

But you know what I mean, happens to me all the time, whenever I'm being 'gamey' and not firing my aeg as if it was 'real' some bugger takes a snapshot! ![]()

The other little thing that might round off your impression is taking the leg cargo pockets off your trousers to make them look more 'german'. I got a brilliant pair of those tan and water german camo trousers off 'flectarn.co.uk' a few years back but they were a very 'american' cut... a few minutes with a stich unpicker and they looked mmuch more '40s' (i think it was only US paras who had thight cargo pockets in WWII but i'm happy to stand corrected if anyone knows any other units who had them - the single map pocket on the left thigh was very common on german and british trousers).
Still it might mean wrecking trousers you use for other impressions but just a thought.

You might want to move the bayonet over to the left side?
Is that a Field Div jacket you are wearing? Very unusual to see insignia other than an eagle on those.

Nice one, i thought they were pukka US combats! ![]()
Gap apparently (or was it next) did a casual jacket that was identical to the US M41 field jacket a while back as well.

You are not wrong there, I'm on the D-Day video from three years back firing my Thompson in a stupid/weird way, looking along the side of the barrel with my palm on the back of the but, the whole gun un-shouldered and waving in the air. I never even gave it a thought at the time but it looked so rubbish.

Re bayonet on left.... I work for a german av company and the uk sales manager talked about his fathers regiment and the fact that a number of them prided themselves on being close combat fighters and often carry two blades.... So I have two as a nod to them.
I used to carry a K98 bayonet on my german webbing while armed with a MP40 with the excuse that it was a 'fighting knife' but was told no end of times by a lot of guys who knew there stuff that the K98 baynet is *absolutley useless* for anything other than stabbing stuff on the end of a rifle, it's not much good for fighting with, its useless as a general 'knife' and pants for opening tins or bottles with.
I had to actually admit to myself i was actually carrying it as i thought it looked cool ![]()
Nothing wrong with that of course but I tend to leave it off my kit these days unless i'm carrying a rifle.
The preferred close combat weapons were those fighting knives with the side clip that allows you to fasten them in your boot from what I've read.
Anyway, I just thought I'd mention that as it came up when i started doing german impressions and this thread remined me. But to be honest the only really important thing is to have a loadout that you're happy with... other people can be as 'expert' as they like but at the end of the day it's your game!

That is probably the best thing I have seen on this site for ages and fully endorse it (As most of the members on here I expect would aswell)
As a side note sharpen up a Hitler youth knife! When I was on the frontline (1982)I had a german Bundeswehr knife which was remarkably the same shape and size as the Hitler youth knives only Green handle. I tell you we were supposed to all have the same kit in the Brit army but each to their own and even the CSM wore 18 hole doc martins along with us as we only had low boots and puttees.

Cheers!
Heheh its weird when someone refers to Sheffield as 'down south'!
